Migrant domestic worker interview

All first-time MDWs are required to attend the migrant domestic worker interview twice in their first year of employment.

The first interview will typically be held in the first few months of employment, while the second interview will be held in the last few months before the end of her first year of employment. Both interviews are compulsory and not mutually exclusive. MOM may follow-up with you if there are findings.

You will receive a letter of notification and an email from MOM if your MDW is due for the interview. You will be required to make an appointment at your preferred timeslot and CDEConnect Centre. The letter and email include the steps to book an appointment slot.

As her employer, you must ensure that your MDW attends the interview.

What is the MDW interview

The MDW interview allows MOM to ensure that your MDW is settling into her new working and living environment, especially if she is working in Singapore for the first time. If your MDW can adapt well, it can help foster a harmonious relationship between her and your family.

What is the MDW interview process

The interview will be conducted by the Centre for Domestic Employees (CDE) on behalf of MOM.

CDE is a non-governmental organisation set up by the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) to help both local and migrant domestic workers address work-related challenges that they may face.

During the interview, your MDW will be asked well-being related questions, such as whether she is eating and sleeping well, performing her work in safe conditions. She will also be reminded of her rights and responsibilities.

When

You should make an appointment for your MDWs before they visit the CDEConnect centre.

Our interview centres are operating on an appointment basis. Priority will be given to MDW who arrives on time for their appointment.

If your MDW arrives later than the appointment schedule, they may experience longer waiting time as CDE can only attend to them when there is available slot.

The CDEConnect centres operating hours:

  • Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm, except for public holidays.
Duration 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Documents to prepare
  • Her Work Permit card
  • Her employment contract

The interview is conducted only with your MDW. You must provide privacy for your MDW during the interview.

If you are accompanying your MDW to the centre, the waiting area will allow for one accompanying person to wait for your MDW to complete her interview.

Recording of the interview is not allowed.

Changing interview arrangements

You can reschedule your appointment via our self-help appointment system.

You can contact CDE if you need to:

  • Appeal for alternative arrangements, such as the mode of interview.
All appeals will be subjected for approval and handled on a case-by-case basis.
  • Reschedule the appointment due to unavailable slots.
Please contact CDE at least 3 working days before your scheduled appointment date.

All changes are subjected to availability of slots.

The MDW interview is compulsory, and it is your responsibility as an MDW employer to ensure that your MDW attends the interview.

If your MDW does not attend the interview, her Work Permit may be revoked.
