From turbulence to triumph: a fresh graduate’s SGUnited Traineeships Programme journey

Despite graduating at the height of the pandemic, Ms. Shanice Tang not only developed industry-relevant skills, but also gained a firmer foothold in the job market.

“Before this traineeship, I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do as a fresh graduate.”

Ms. Shanice Tang, a diploma-holder in Digital Forensics, was introduced to the SGUnited Traineeships programme with Kroll Associates in 2020 during the pandemic.

For fresh graduates like Ms. Tang, who entered the workforce during challenging times, this programme helped her to develop industry-relevant skills, and honed and refined her skills beyond the classroom setting. This allowed her to gain practical experience and workplace exposure.

She also expanded her professional network, easing her transition to a full-time job.

It also made her realise that this was indeed a career she wanted to pursue. When Kroll Associates offered her a full-time position with them, she gladly accepted.

“Thanks to this traineeship, I was able to explore, learn and figure out what I truly want to do.”

Fresh graduates can now take part in the GRaduate Industry Traineeships (GRIT) Programme. Starting with a capacity of 800 traineeships, GRIT is a new scheme that offers traineeship opportunities for fresh graduates for three to six months across various sectors.

Under the GRIT Programme, graduates can gain industry-relevant experience while receiving a traineeship allowance co-funded by the Government and the host organisation, preparing them for a successful transition into full-time employment amid economic uncertainties.
