A company that supports lifelong learning and upskilling for Singaporeans at every age

BNL Group leverages various schemes to support their workers, no matter their lifestage.

“We're a very strong believer in lifelong learning,” said Mr. Lee Hsin Chong, the Managing Director of BNL Group, an environmental services company.

BNL Group receives wage support through the Progressive Wage Credit Scheme (PWCS). Under the scheme, the Government co-funds wage increases to help employers adjust to the mandatory wage increases for eligible lower-wage workers covered by the Progressive Wage Model. In doing so, companies like BNL Group can channel money into upskilling their workers.

To ensure that workers in their industry are kept updated on current and future trends, they are sent for training and upskilling, which may be specific to landscaping or waste management, as well as soft skills such as teamwork and communication.

The company also offers flexible work arrangements for its senior employees, which may include job-sharing arrangements. As these workers move into a new phase of life, such flexibility allows them to continue contributing while taking their priorities into account.

“We want to be flexible to enable these senior employees to achieve whatever they can. If they cannot commit to a certain arrangement, we will try to find a way around it,” Mr. Lee said.

Additionally, BNL Group has sponsored over 20 students, from a range of disciplines, under the Work-Study Diploma Programme. This programme matches students with jobs, where they undergo a structured training programme to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
