The Training Employment Pass is meant for eligible foreign students or foreign trainees who want to undergo training in Singapore.
Who is eligible
You can apply for a Training Employment Pass (TEP) if you wish to hire a foreign student or a trainee from a foreign office or subsidiary.
To hire a foreign student:
To hire a trainee from your foreign office or subsidiary:
- They must earn a fixed monthly salary of at least $3,000.
You may be asked to submit relevant documents when we review your TEP application, such as verification proof of educational qualifications and proof of ownership of foreign company.
- If the candidate has held a TEP before, they will not be eligible for another one for the same type of training.
- Your application may be rejected if your company has a high number or proportion of TEP applications or holders compared to similar companies in your industry.
If the candidate doesn't meet the criteria
If the candidate doesn't qualify for a Training Employment Pass, you can try these options:
- For foreign students, they can consider applying for the Work Holiday Programme which allows them to work and holiday in Singapore.
- For foreign trainees, you can consider the Training Work Permit (TWP) for them. The TWP is meant for semi-skilled or unskilled foreign trainees.
Duration of pass
The Training Employment Pass is valid for up to 3 months and is not renewable.
