Work Permit (Foreign Domestic Worker) - Inform MOM
6-Monthly Medical Examination
A Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) is required to go for a 6-Monthly Medical Examination (6ME) to screen for infectious diseases and pregnancies.
The 6ME helps to ensure that FDWs do not carry infectious diseases such as HIV or TB, which might harm them or the people they come into contact with. This is especially important as FDWs work in a residential environment and may have contact with children. A pregnancy test is also required for the FDWs.
The 6ME should be performed by a Singapore-registered doctor and the employer should bear the cost of the 6ME and any other medical expenses arising from the 6ME. A FDW who fails the 6ME should be repatriated immediately.
Deferment of the 6ME
If the 6ME is due while the FDW is on home leave, an employer should inform the Work Pass Division and request for the 6ME to be performed when she returns to Singapore.
This can be done via:
Waiver of 6ME Due to Repatriation
An employer can request to waive the 6ME if you intend to cancel your FDW's Work Permit within a month. However, the employer is still encouraged to send the FDW for the 6ME as a precautionary measure.
To request for a waiver, please scan a copy of the worker’s confirmed travel ticket and submit it via email, the iSubmit portal or by fax at (65) 6538 7275
