Work Permit (Foreign Domestic Worker) - Inform MOM
6-Monthly Medical Examination
A Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) is required to go for a 6-Monthly Medical Examination (6ME) to screen for pregnancies and infectious diseases, i.e. Venereal Disease, HIV, Tuberculosis. As the employer, you should refer to your worker's 6ME letter and report form for the types of medical screenings she is due to undergo.
The 6ME helps to ensure that FDWs do not carry infectious diseases such as HIV or TB, which might harm them or the people they come into contact with. This is especially important as they work in a residential environment and may have contact with children. A pregnancy test is also required for the FDWs.
The 6ME should be performed by a Singapore-registered doctor and you should bear the cost of the 6ME and any other medical expenses arising from the 6ME. A FDW who fails the 6ME should be repatriated immediately.
Deferment of 6-Monthly Medical Examination (6ME)
If the 6ME is due while the FDW is on home leave, you should inform us and request for the 6ME to be performed when she returns to Singapore.
This can be done via:
- iSubmit web portal. Please select option 5: Work Permit Application Matters for Foreign Domestic Worker (Supporting documents and Appeals) and 6ME for FDW & FW on the web portal.
- Email to: email@example.com
- Fax: (65) 6538 7275.
Waiver of 6-Monthly Medical Examination (6ME) due to repatriation
You may choose not to send the worker for 6ME if you are sending her home within one month of 6ME due date.
If you intend to keep the worker beyond one month of the due date, you need to get our approval for a waiver. Send your request with a copy of the worker’s confirmed travel ticket via the iSubmit web portal (Option 5: Work Permit Application Matters for Foreign Domestic Worker (Supporting documents and Appeals) and 6ME for FDW & FW), or email us.
