Eligibility for Pre-approved Letter of Consent

The Pre-approved Letter of Consent (PLOC) allows eligible LTVP/LTVP+ holders to work in Singapore without having to find a job first.

Who is eligible

You need to be a holder of a LTVP/LTVP+ issued by ICA and a spouse or unmarried child (under 21 years old) of a Singapore citizen or permanent resident to apply for a PLOC.

If the LTVP/LTVP+ with ICA is expiring soon, the LTVP/LTVP+ holder should renew it first before applying for a PLOC. This is because the PLOC will be tied to the expiry of the current LTVP/LTVP+.

How to apply

When eligible foreigners apply for, or renew their LTVP/LTVP+ with ICA, they will be given an option to apply for a PLOC at the same time.

If they did not do so while applying for the LTVP/LTVP+ but wish to get a PLOC later, the LTVP sponsor/holder can submit your request 2 days after receiving the LTVP card.

Each PLOC application is assessed on its own merits and the application outcome will be emailed to you within a week. If you did not receive the outcome in your inbox, please check your 'Junk' folder.

Duration of the pass

The duration will be tied to your ICA-issued LTVP/LTVP +.

The PLOC will no longer be valid when your LTVP/LTVP+ expires, or is cancelled.

If you do not wish to continue working, you do not need to cancel the PLOC. You can choose not to apply for PLOC when you renew your LTVP/LTVP+.

Renewal of the pass

Your PLOC may be renewed when the LTVP/LTVP+ is also renewed.

Please note that you should renew your LTVP/LTVP+ with ICA at least three months before it expires.

What if I’m unsuccessful in getting for a PLOC

If you still wish to work in Singapore, you may ask your prospective employer to apply for an LOC for you.
