Investigation outcome for alleged cheating and fraudulent work injury compensation claim involving EatGreen Pte Ltd

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) have completed their investigations into a case of alleged cheating and fraudulent work injury compensation claim respectively, involving a former worker employed by EatGreen Pte. Ltd., which operates Sumo Salad.

Alleged cheating offence

2 Upon completion of investigations and after careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the matter, the Police found no evidence to suggest that the former worker had committed the offence of cheating. The Police, in consultation with the Attorney-General's Chambers, will not be taking any further action against the former worker in this matter.

Work Injury Compensation

3 MOM has also investigated the work injury compensation claim and found no evidence of fraud. The claim will therefore be admitted and processed by the designated insurer in accordance with the Work Injury Compensation Act (WICA). The designated insurer had earlier reimbursed the employer in June 2025 for the medical cost and medical leave wages incurred for the work injury up till then and will continue to cover the eligible compensation benefits under WICA.

4 In the course of its investigations, MOM also reviewed EatGreen Pte. Ltd.'s work injury compensation insurance coverage and found that while the company had insurance coverage for the worker's claim, its policy only covered two employees and did not provide coverage for the remaining employees required under WICA. MOM has issued a stern warning to the company for this lapse under WICA.

5 The WICA ensures that workers who suffer work-related injuries or occupational diseases receive timely financial support, while safeguarding employers’ interests through due process and capped compensation limits. The framework includes an avenue for both employers and employees to raise objections prior to claim settlement, ensuring that all parties have the opportunity to present their case before decisions are finalised. MOM takes the integrity of this framework seriously and will not hesitate to take action against those responsible for false or misleading claims or circumvention of the framework.

6 Employers and workers who require assistance on work injury compensation matters may approach designated insurers or MOM (MOM_OSHD@mom.gov.sg).
