Joint MOM-MOE Statement on Merger of WSG and SSG
Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Mr Lawrence Wong announced at Budget 2026 that Workforce Singapore (WSG) and SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) would merge into a new statutory board jointly overseen by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and the Ministry of Education (MOE). This merger will strengthen the integration of Singapore’s jobs-skills ecosystem.
2 Through this new agency, we will be better positioned to align future skills with future job needs, delivering more seamless end-to-end career and employment services for Singaporean workers. A single agency overseeing jobs and skills will also allow us to respond faster and more effectively to changes in the fast-evolving economy and labour market.
3 During the transition, WSG and SSG will continue to provide their usual services until the new agency is ready to take over these functions. We assure all our stakeholders that there will be no service disruption during this transition.
4 We will support all WSG and SSG officers through the transition, including by providing opportunities to reskill and take on suitable new roles in the new agency or other agencies, if necessary.
5 More details on the new agency will be shared at MOM’s and MOE’s Committee of Supply debates.
