Measures to Prevent Congregations of Foreign Workers and Foreign Domestic Workers

  1. In view of tighter measures taken at the national level to reduce the risk of local transmission of COVID-19, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will be taking measures to prevent congregations of foreign workers (FWs) and foreign domestic workers (FDWs).

WORKERS ADVISED TO REMAIN IN RESIDENCE ON REST DAYS
  2. Workers are strongly advised to remain in their residence on their rest days. If they have important errands to attend to, they are advised to minimise time spent outside.  Employers should be aware of where their workers will be going and to have them return home upon completion of their errands. Workers should also observe good personal hygiene and minimise physical contact by not shaking hands or sharing food, and maintaining a safe distance from one another.
  3. When workers meet in indoors spaces, they must observe the latest rules on the gathering size. Workers should avoid gathering in public spaces, or visiting crowded places including Little India, Lucky Plaza, City Plaza, Peninsula Plaza.
  4. As outdoor gatherings among FDWs tend to be large, MOM will take action to disperse them as an added precaution.  MOM will step up inspections on the ground. Workers who do not cooperate will have their work passes revoked.

EMPLOYERS AND DORMITORY OPERATORS URGED TO EDUCATE WORKERS
  5. Collective social responsibility is critical in slowing the transmission of COVID-19. We ask for the cooperation of workers to take necessary precautions and exercise individual responsibility. MOM also urges the employers of FWs and FDWs, as well as dormitory operators to educate their workers and residents on the advisory to remain at home or in dormitories on their rest days.
