Minister for Manpower Tan Chuan-Jin to Attend 23rd ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Meeting in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar

  1. Minister for Manpower Tan Chuan-Jin will be attending the 23rd ASEAN Labour Ministers Meeting (ALMM) in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, from 21 to 22 May 2014.
  2. The 23rd ALMM will focus on the theme, “Enhancing Competitive Labour Force for Harmonious, Progressive and Prosperous Workplace”. The delegation from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will share its approach and perspectives on the promotion of labour force competitiveness towards harmonious, progressive and prosperous workplaces.
  3. Minister Tan, accompanied by senior officials from MOM, will also discuss labour initiatives with ASEAN Labour Ministers and his counterparts from the People’s Republic of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea at the 8th ALMM Plus Three Labour Ministers’ Meeting.
  4. The biennial ALMMs, together with the Senior Labour Officials Meetings, provide an important platform for labour leaders of the ASEAN countries to discuss labour issues of common interest and to implement joint projects to benefit the region in the areas of employment, human resource management and development.
