Tripartite Delegation to Attend International Labour Conference

  1. Singapore's Minister of State for National Development and Manpower, Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, will lead a tripartite delegation to attend the 101st Session of the International Labour Conference from 11 to 13 June 2012 in Geneva, Switzerland.
  2. The delegation includes Ms Diana Chia, President, National Trades Union Congress (NTUC); Mr Lim Swee Say, Secretary-General, NTUC; Mr Stephen Lee, President, Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF); Mr Bob Tan, Vice President, SNEF; and senior officials from the Ministry of Manpower.
  3. The annual conference provides an important avenue for employer, union and government representatives from International Labour Organisation member states to discuss issues of shared interest. The topics to be discussed at this year's Conference include social protection, the youth employment crisis, fundamental principles and rights at work, and other matters in the sphere of international labour.
  4. Mr Tan Chuan-Jin will address the Conference on Monday, 11 June 20121. He will update the Conference on Singapore's economic and demographic situation, as well as Singapore's national productivity drive and efforts to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth. During the Conference, Mr Tan will also conduct bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other countries.
