Statement on Worksite Accident at 5 Shenton Way

1. MOM was informed of a workplace incident at a multi-storey carpark next to UIC Building (Easthigh Engineering and Machinery’s worksite), located at 5 Shenton Way.
2. Officers from MOM’s Occupational Safety and Health Inspectorate responded immediately and are currently on-site. Preliminary findings indicate that the partial collapse of the multi-storey carpark during phased demolition could have been caused by accumulated debris against the rear of the building.
3. All workers on-site have been accounted for, with one injured worker conveyed to hospital.
4. MOM has also issued a stop work order for the worksite, and is working closely with the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) on this on-going investigation.
