Singapore’s Manpower Minister to attend 5th APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting in Beijing

1. Minister for Manpower Mr Gan Kim Yong will be attending the 5th APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting (HRD MM) in Beijing, China from 16-17 September 2010.
2. The HRD MM is a forum for APEC economies to discuss issues relating to international cooperation in human resource development. The theme for the 5th HRD MM is “Developing Human Resources, Vigorously Promoting Employment and Realising Inclusive Growth”.
3. Mr Gan will be speaking on "Enhancing Human Resources Capacity Building to Prepare the Workforce for Revitalising Economic Growth", one of the three sub-themes for the 5th HRD MM. In the speech, Mr Gan will share Singapore's efforts to build a globally competitive workforce through education, training and upgrading, as well as developing Singapore's HR and management capabilities and ensuring inclusive growth. While in Beijing, Mr Gan will also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts at the sidelines of the Meeting.
4. Mr Gan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Manpower.
