To ask the Acting Minister for Manpower (a) whether a taxi driver’s share of CPF contributions deducted from his earnings and remitted by a platform operator counts towards the personal MediSave contribution required to qualify for the Drive and Save Scheme; and (b) if not, why are such drivers required to make additional MediSave contribution to qualify for this scheme.

Answer:

The Drive and Save scheme is an initiative by the National Taxi Association and the taxi industry, with support from the Ministry of Manpower and CPF Board. Participating taxi operators can decide whether a taxi driver’s CPF MediSave contributions deducted from his earnings and remitted by a platform operator qualifies for the Drive and Save scheme.
