NOTICE PAPER NO. 1391 OF 2026 FOR THE SITTING ON OR AFTER 7 OCTOBER 2026
QUESTION NO. 2181 FOR WRITTEN ANSWER
MP: Mr Shawn Loh
To ask the Acting Minister for Manpower (a) what is the Ministry's assessment of the Job Seeker Support Scheme (JSS) that has been implemented since April 2025; and (b) has the Ministry observed differences in the job placement outcomes between jobseekers receiving JSS payouts and those that do not, including the time taken to find employment.
Answer:
The SkillsFuture Jobseeker Support (JS) scheme was launched in April 2025 to provide temporary financial support to involuntarily unemployed individuals while they actively search for a job.
2. As at 31 Jul 2026, the JS scheme has provided support to 5,700 jobseekers, of which 66.5% found new job roles within 6 months of joining the scheme. On average, JS scheme beneficiaries take about 4 months to secure a job.
3. It is still too early to draw firm conclusions on the impact of the JS scheme. We are studying if scheme beneficiaries have better employment outcomes compared to similar jobseekers who do not receive the support. We will use the findings to assess the scheme's effectiveness and how it can better support jobseekers.
