Written Answer to PQ on Considering lowering age of senior workers eligible for the Part-Time Re-employment grant

NOTICE PAPER NO. 1374 OF 2026 FOR THE SITTING ON OR AFTER 7 OCTOBER 2026
QUESTION NO. 3077 FOR ORAL ANSWER

MP: Mr Patrick Tay Teck Guan

To ask the Acting Minister for Manpower whether the Ministry will consider lowering the eligibility of senior workers employed under the Part-Time Re-employment Grant from age 60 to age 50, with funding disbursed through a tiered approach, so that more workers can benefit.

Answer:

The Part-Time Re-employment Grant (PTRG) supports employers who offer part-time re-employment, flexible work arrangements and structured career planning to senior workers aged 60 years and above. Since its introduction in 2020, the PTRG has supported over 66,000 senior workers and over 7,600 employers who employ these workers. The grant has been extended to end-2027.

2. Convened by MOM and tripartite partners, the Tripartite Workgroup on Senior Employment is reviewing how we can better support senior workers, including younger seniors between 50 and 60 years old, to remain productive and employable, and promote age-friendly jobs and multi-generational workplace practices. This includes supporting flexible work arrangements and structured career planning, beyond the current PTRG. The Workgroup will release its recommendations later this year.
