Written Answer to PQ on Information provided to learners on in-demand jobs and employment outcome of training

NOTICE PAPER NO. 1365 OF 2026 FOR SITTING ON 6 OCTOBER 2026
QUESTION NO. 3051 FOR ORAL ANSWER

MP: Mr David Hoe

To ask the Acting Minister for Manpower in view of the Ministry’s emphasis on training workers for roles that employers need, (a) how workers can identify the skills associated with occupations experiencing sustained demand; and (b) whether the Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) will provide employment-outcome information for relevant training pathways to help workers choose skills that strengthen their prospects of securing employment.

Answer:

SWDA supports individuals’ career planning through digital self-discovery tools like the CareersFinder and MyCareersPlan feature within the MyCareersFuture portal. These tools tap on job market data to highlight occupations and skills that are in strong demand, while offering personalised insights on career options, skills gaps and recommendations on relevant training programmes.

2. Once individuals are clearer on their career goals, they can choose from relevant training offered on the MySkillsFuture portal. To help learners make more informed choices, courses carry a career impact rating which reflects feedback from past trainees on how the course has supported their employment prospects and job performance. In addition to standalone courses, learners can also upskill in Career Conversion Programmes (CCPs), where mid-career individuals are placed into growth job roles with good longer-term prospects. About 9 in 10 CCP participants remain employed 24 months after placement.

3. For those who prefer personalised, in-person support, individuals can visit SWDA’s flagship careers and skills service touchpoint Connect by SWDA, or NTUC’s Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) centres. These touchpoints are located nationwide and can help individuals identify in-demand skills and training pathways that will meet industry needs.

4. Together, these provide various data points and support for individuals to make more informed career and training decisions.
