Written Answer to PQ on job redesign for older employees
QUESTION NO. 1569 FOR WRITTEN ANSWER
MP: Mr Jackson Lam
To ask the Minister for Manpower (a) whether the Ministry’s job redesign policies for older employees explicitly account for the prospects of (i) mentoring younger employees and (ii) engaging tacit knowledge acquired from their long work histories; (b) whether the Ministry has any plans to promote such prospects; and (c) if so, which specific sectors are within the scope of the Ministry’s plans.
Answer:
The Government does not prescribe specific job redesign policy requirements for older employees. We take a broad-based approach to promote age-friendly employment practices across all sectors, including supporting employers to re-design roles and work processes to better leverage the knowledge and experiences of senior workers.
