To ask the Minister for Manpower (a) whether Workforce Singapore (WSG) has conducted checks on digital bank GXS’ recent retrenchment activities to ensure that the GRaduate Industry Traineeships (GRIT) programme roles are not similar to those of impacted workers; and (b) whether WSG will consider GXS’ suitability as a host organisation for the GRIT programme arising from these checks, if any.

Answer:

The roles impacted in GXS’s recent retrenchment exercise were technical roles supporting completed IT projects which differed from the intended GRIT roles. Even though GXS’ retrenchment exercise does not automatically disqualify it from the GRIT programme, GXS has withdrawn from the GRIT programme. WSG remains committed to work with leading companies to provide meaningful opportunities to trainees.
