QUESTION NO. 896 FOR ORAL ANSWER
MP: Mr Melvin Yong
To ask the Minister for Manpower (a) what is the compliance rate with the wages, training and working hours caps requirements in the respective Progressive Wage Model sectors; and (b) how does the Ministry intend to improve compliance in sectors that fair poorly.
Answer:
1. About 8 in 10 eligible employees received salaries which met the Progressive Wage Model (PWM) and Occupational Progressive Wages’ (OPW) requirements. The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) does not track training or working hours requirements by the respective PWM sectors.
2. MOM will continue to conduct targeted inspections in sectors with lower compliance rates, and work with tripartite partners and PWM sectoral leads to educate and help employers meet their PWM requirements.
