OCTOBER 2025
QUESTION NO. 516 FOR ORAL ANSWER
MP: Mr Patrick Tay
To ask the Minister for Manpower whether the Ministry intends to study (i) potential productivity gains from artificial intelligence (AI) adoption and (ii) the extent to which AI-associated productivity gains could translate into wage growth for non-senior managerial workers.
Answer:
The Government is studying and will continue to study the extent to which AI can affect jobs and its potential impact on the labour market and productivity. Isolating the potential productivity gains and wage growth that are solely attributable to AI adoption is challenging, as the technology and its effects on job tasks rapidly evolve. Additionally, the full benefits of AI adoption will take time to materialise.
