To ask the Minister for Manpower (a) as of 31 December 2024, what is the total workforce size of workers provide caregiving services on online platforms offering such services; (b) what is the breakdown of this total by (i) age (ii) gender and (iii) nationality; and (c) what is the mean and median gross income of full-time caregiving freelancers.
Answer:
1. MOM’s survey shows that freelance personal care workers are a small group, fewer than 1,000 compared to a total of about 201,000 own account workers in 2024.
2. These workers generally do not use online matching platforms. In fact, the survey found no freelance workers using such platforms in 2024.
