To ask the Minister for Manpower regarding the planned unemployment support under the expanded SkillsFuture programme (a) what measures are in place to discourage dependency on unemployment support; (b) how will the system prevent excessive claims from individuals with additional income streams; (c) whether recipients will be mandated to actively seek job opportunities and attend interviews to remain eligible; and (d) what insights were gained from the administration of the COVID-19 recovery grant, where recipients were required to demonstrate active job seeking.

Answer:

The Ministry of Manpower is studying the parameters for the scheme to support involuntarily unemployed workers to bounce back into jobs. More information will be announced when the parameters of the support scheme have been finalised.
