NOTICE PAPER NO. 2344 OF 2023 FOR THE SITTING ON 6 NOV 2023
QUESTION NO. 5363 FOR ORAL ANSWER

MP: Mr Ong Hua Han

To ask the Minister for Manpower (a) for each year from 2020 to 2022, how many wrongful dismissal complaints have been filed with the Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management against firms with fewer than 25 employees; and (b) how many of such firms have received more than one complaint against them for this three-year period.

Answer:

1. Between 2020 and 2022, an average of around 380 wrongful dismissal claims were filed with the Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management (TADM) each year from employees working in firms with fewer than 25 employees.

2. Out of the firms involved in wrongful dismissal claims who employed fewer than 25 employees during the three-year period, about 6% of them had more than one claim filed against them. Employees who feel that they have been wrongfully dismissed can approach the TADM for help, regardless of the workforce size of the firm.
