MP: Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang

To ask the Minister for Manpower in each of the past five years, how many instances of feedback or requests received by Forward Assurance and Support Team officers have been about (i) illegal employment (ii) criminal kickbacks (iii) false declarations of salary (iv) failure by an employment agency to refund agency fees and (v) illegal deployment respectively.

Answer:

1. From 2020 to 2022, there were on average about 180 cases per year from migrant workers on illegal employment that were found to be substantiated. Similarly, the average annual substantiated cases were about 60 for kickbacks, 65 for salary false declarations, 35 for illegal deployment, and 3 for failing to refund agency fees. The number of substantiated cases has been dropping for all 5 categories since 2020.
