NOTICE PAPER NO. 2052 OF 2020 FOR A SITTING ON 6 APRIL 2020

QUESTION NO. 1677 FOR WRITTEN ANSWER

NMP: Assoc Prof Walter Theseira

To ask the Minister for Manpower in each of the last five years (a) how many applications have been received for a Letter of Consent to employ a LTVP/LTVP+ holder in restricted occupations such as media and religion-related occupations; (b) of these, how many applications are approved; and (c) what are the criteria for approving such applications in the areas of media and religion respectively.

Answer

  1. In the past 5 years, MOM had received 134 Letter of Consent (LOC) applications for LTVP/ LTVP+ holders to work in the media and religion-related occupations. Most of these applications were approved.
  2. Similar to all other work passes, LOC applications, including those for media and religion related occupations, are assessed on the individual merits of the case. MOM will seek inputs from relevant government agencies before giving our approval.
