Under the DTS interim standards, a minimum of 1 ensuite toilet is required for every 6 residents. Each ensuite toilet must include 1 water closet (toilet bowl), 1 shower point, and 1 hand wash basin. The toilet must be located within the living unit and accessible only by dormitory residents of that unit. Portable toilets are allowed if they can be placed permanently within the living unit.
