Work Permit (Confinement Nanny) - When you apply
Application Process
Temporary Work Permit (WP) applications for a confinement nanny can be submitted online or manually.
The Temporary Work Permit application for a confinement nanny should be submitted not more than one month before the expected date of delivery of the new born.
Employers with newborns who are more than four months old should not apply for a Temporary Work Permit for a confinement nanny.
Online Application
Step 1: Submission of application
- Temporary Work Permit application for a confinement nanny can be made online through WP Online (Login using your SingPass) - an online portal for selected work pass transactions.
- A $20 administrative fee is payable for each Work Permit application submitted. Payment can be made online using Visa/MasterCard or eNets Debit/GIRO*.
*GIRO payment is only available to Employment Agencies (acting on behalf of the prospective employers), with an existing GIRO arrangement with the Work Pass Division.
Step 2: Assessment and approval
- It takes one working day to process a Work Permit application. The outcome can be accessed and printed online.
Step 3: Collection of Temporary Work Permit
Please follow the instructions given in the approval letter.
Manual Application
Step 1: Submission of application
- Prospective confinement nanny employer may submit the completed Temporary Work Permit for a confinement nanny application form and supporting documents in person at any SingPost office (MOM-appointed collecting agent).
- A $20 administrative fee will be charged for each application submitted. Payment can be made at SingPost using cash, NETS or CashCard.
- A SingPost payment advice slip will be issued at the post office upon submission of an application.

Step 2: Assessment and approval
- The processing time is about five working days. Upon approval, an In-Principle Approval letter (valid for one month) will be mailed to the employer’s residential address indicated in the application form.
