Renew a registration for workplace safety and health officer

You should renew your workplace safety and health (WSH) officer certificate at least 60 days before it expires.

Requirements

To renew your WSHO certificate, you need:

40 Safety Development Units (SDUs):
- 40 SDUs must be from categories 1, 2 or 3 subject to the maximum number of SDUs allowed for each category.
- If you submitted more than 40 SDUs, you will not be allowed to carry forward any excess SDUs.

A recent colour photo. The photo must:
- Be taken against plain white background without shadows.
- Be taken within the last 3 months.
- Show your full face without headgear.
  Headgear worn in accordance with religious or racial customs is acceptable, but must not hide your facial features.
- Be in JPG format.
- Be about 150 Kb in file size.
- Have the dimensions 400 px (width) by 514 px (height).

SDU framework

The revised SDU framework will be based on three categories:

No cap in SDUs

Tier 1

40 SDUs for selected postgraduate, degree studies, or leadership programmes.

1 SDU for every 1 hour, capped at 20 SDUs

Soft skill courses such as conflict resolution, or stakeholder management courses
Managerial-level WSH courses
Supportive WSH training such as process safety, WSH auditing, combustible dust hazard, or complex lifting trainings

Tier 2

1 SDU for every 2 hours, capped at 10 SDU

Selected supervisory and technical training such as supervise metal scaffold erection or supervise marine work for WSH trainings, excluding refresher courses

Supporting documents required:

Final course certificate from training provider
Final attendance email from training provider for trainings without certificate

Only SDUs approved by the CPD Board with a valid CPD approval code will be accepted.
Not all training courses offered by Learning Service Providers (LSP) qualifies for SDUs. You need to check the courses accredited for SDU by CPD Board before you enrol for any course.

Capped at 10 SDUs per renewal cycle

Contribution as a writer or editor of WSH papers or published articles	5 SDUs per paper or article Copy of paper or published article Note: Article must be published on reputable WSH related media such as WSH bulletin, newspaper, conference, seminar, or workshop. In-house articles are not accepted
Registered engineering patents	10 SDUs per patent Registration certificate with your name and registration number
WSH contributions at national or industry level	1 SDU for every 2 hours Letter from organiser or authority
Attending unaccredited internationally recognised WSH courses and trainings	1 SDU for every 2 hours Final course certificate from training provider Final attendance email from training provider for trainings without certificate

SDUs obtained under previous SDU framework will still be accepted for your current renewal cycle if the SDUs are obtained within 2 years from registration expiry date.

How to check or submit SDUs

You can log in to check your current SDUs or submit new SDUs.

How to renew

Processing time: Up to 4 weeks. May take longer if more information or documents are required.

Log in to renew.
Ensure that your address and contact details are correct
Choose Renew Certificate to submit your renewal.
Pay the $60 fee online. Your application will only be processed upon payment.
Receive the outcome by post. You will receive your WSH Officer registration card by post if your renewal is successful.

If your licence has expired

You can still renew your certificate if it has expired for less than one year.

However, if you wish to renew your certificate after more than one year of expiry, you can proceed to renew your licence if you meet the following requirements:

Obtained 40 SDUs.
Submit professional work review write-up on your past 2 years’ practical working experience in WSH field of work, including testimonials from employers.
Submit a cover letter on the reason for the lapse in the renewal.
Additional documents maybe required.
