Update on Sime Chong Construction workers with salary arrears

1. As at 12.00pm on 19 Dec, all 28 workers have been paid their salary arrears. All 28 workers reported for work today (19 Dec).
2. As for the 4 Chinese workers who are no longer working and are on Special Passes since they lodged their salary claims with MOM in late Nov, MOM’s Labour Relations Officers had been working to resolve their salary arrears. The workers met up with MOM’s Labour Relations Officers and their former employer, Sime Chong Construction Pte Ltd at MOM Services Centre (MOMSC) this afternoon. At the end of the conciliation session, workers were paid their salary arrears in full, amounting to about $14,000 in total.
3. As per the workers’ requests, they will return home on 20 Dec. Sime Chong Construction has borne the cost of the air tickets.
4. MOM’s investigations against Sime Chong Construction are on-going.
