To ask the Minister for Manpower what is the monthly number of workplace fatalities and workplace injuries reported in the last three years with a breakdown by (i) SMEs (ii) non-SMEs (iii) workers aged 55 and above (iv) workers aged below 55 and (v) industry sectors.

Answer:

The requested data are in Charts 1-4 below. Data for the second half of 2023 is not yet available. It is important to recognise the month-to-month volatility in the numbers and to assess the situation over a longer period for a holistic and accurate view.

2. From 2021 to first half of 2023, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and workers aged below 55 represented the majority of workplace fatalities and reported injuries. Construction and Manufacturing sectors were consistently the top contributors for workplace fatalities and workplace injuries respectively.
