NOTICE PAPER NO. 890 OF 2022 FOR THE SITTING ON 10 JANUARY 2022

QUESTION NO. 1423 FOR WRITTEN ANSWER

MP: Ms Nadia Ahmad Samdin

To ask the Minister for Manpower (a) whether there is data on the number of cases in which employees have made reports of workplace grievances and discrimination because of their increased family responsibilities and caregiving duties during the pandemic for the last two years; and (b) if so, how many of them are women.

Answer:

Between 2020 and 2021, the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices received an annual average of about 14 reports relating to discrimination due to marital status and family responsibilities. This is similar to that received between 2017 and 2019. Of the reports received in the last two years, about 80% were reported by women, lower than 95% between 2017 and 2019.
