Written Answer by Mr Lim Swee Say, Minister for Manpower, to Parliamentary Question on Sharing List of Eligible Bargainable Employees with Unions

Notice Paper No. 256 Of 2015 For The Sitting On 17 Aug 2015 Question No. 321 For Written Answer

MP: Mr K Karthikeyan

To ask the Minister for Manpower whether the Ministry will review the sharing of the list of eligible bargainable employees with unions which was previously allowed but not allowed recently.

Answer
  1. To facilitate the conduct of a secret ballot for union recognition under the Industrial Relations Act, the employer is required to provide to the Commissioner for Labour relevant information of the employees who are eligible to vote. This information is then verified by the union in the presence of the employer and the Commissioner. We recognise the importance of allowing the unions to verify the information and we will continue to do so.
