Upcoming Special Operations on Crane Safety – Operation Goldcrest

Operation Goldcrest will target workplaces on Crane Safety from June to July 2014

Operation Period: June 2014 to July 2014

Crane Safety is one of the announced key priority programmes under MOM’s Programme-based Engagement (ProBE Plus) for 2014. MOM will be conducting a series of special inspections on workplaces, targeting the safe use of Cranes, and safe conduct of lifting operations for the period between 1 June and 31 July 2014.

The work activities and documentation checks that will be covered during the inspections include:

  • Safe use of Tower Cranes, Mobile Cranes, Crawler Cranes, Gantry Cranes and Lorry Loaders
  • Safe Lifting Operations
  • Risk Assessment
  • Safe Work Procedures for Lifting Operations
  • Permit to Work System for Lifting Operations
  • Lifting Plans
  • Functionality of Safety Devices of Cranes
  • Maintenance Regime of Cranes
  • Condition of Lifting Appliances and Lifting Gears
  • Appointment of certified Lifting Personnel – Lifting Supervisor, Rigger, Signalman and Crane Operator
  • OSHMS for Lifting Operations
