When do we need to decide that we’ll be taking shared parental leave?

If you’re a husband and wife planning on taking shared parental leave, you can indicate your decision either:

  • At any point during the pregnancy, once you know your child’s estimated delivery date.
  • Anytime within 12 months of the child’s birth, as long as there’s still sufficient time to take leave before your child turns 1.
Once you’ve applied for shared parental leave, the decision is final.
