Penalties will be increased to deter WSH offences and unsafe WSH practices.
Composition fines
Since 14 June 2022, composition fines have been doubled from a minimum of $1,000 to $2,000 for each workplace safety and health (WSH) lapse.
Maximum fines
From 1 June 2024, maximum fines for breaches of WSH Act Subsidiary Legislation that could potentially result in death, serious bodily injury or dangerous occurrence will be increased from $20,000 to $50,000. These fines are reviewed based on principles such as severity of the offence whether it was a major cause or contributing factor of serious harm.
