Debarment of company and CEO to take responsibility

These measures are introduced to strengthen workplace safety and health (WSH) ownership to address the concerning rise in workplace fatalities in 2022.

Who does it apply to:

Following serious or fatal workplace accidents, any company found to have serious WSH lapses such as unsafe workplace conditions or poor risk controls.

Actions that may be taken:

  • Debar such companies from employing new foreign employees for up to three months.
  • Require Chief Executive Officers to personally account to MOM and take responsibility for rectifications.
  • Require companies to engage external auditors to conduct a thorough review of their WSH processes.
