These measures are introduced to strengthen workplace safety and health (WSH) ownership to address the concerning rise in workplace fatalities in 2022.
Who does it apply to:
Following serious or fatal workplace accidents, any company found to have serious WSH lapses such as unsafe workplace conditions or poor risk controls.
Actions that may be taken:
- Debar such companies from employing new foreign employees for up to three months.
- Require Chief Executive Officers to personally account to MOM and take responsibility for rectifications.
- Require companies to engage external auditors to conduct a thorough review of their WSH processes.
