Minister for Manpower Lim Swee Say's Attendance at G20 Labour and Employment Ministerial Meeting in Beijing, China

  1. Minister for Manpower Lim Swee Say attended the G20 Labour and Employment Ministerial Meeting (LEMM) in Beijing, China from 12 to 13 July 2016. 
  2. The G20 LEMM focused on the theme “Innovation: decent work, enhanced employability and adequate job opportunities (IDEA)”. The meeting discussed global challenges in generating adequate job opportunities, enhancing employability and promoting decent work for all, and how these efforts will contribute to achieving the G20’s common goal of strong, sustainable and balanced growth. 
  3. In his intervention, Minister Lim emphasised three urgent priorities in the pursuit of innovation and inclusive growth. These are: (1) Rapid innovation to create future industry and job; (2) Inclusiveness of man and technology; and (3) Timely transformation of skills and workforce. 
  4. While in Beijing, Minister Lim met his G20 counterparts to learn about evolving labour practices in their countries.
