Mr Gerald Giam Yean Song: To ask the Acting Minister for Manpower what is the unemployment rate among Singapore citizens, broken down by Chinese, Malay, Indian and other races.

  1. The Government provides statistics on the economic status of residents by race every five years, via DOS’s publications on Census of Population or General Household Survey. Based on the 2010 population census, the unemployment rate for Chinese, Malay and Indian residents in 2010 was 3.9%, 5.7% and 5.2% respectively.
