Upcoming Special Operations on Crane Safety – Operation Skylark

Operation Skylark will target workplaces on Crane Safety from July to September 2013

Operation Period: 15 July 2013 to 30 September 2013

Crane Safety is one of the announced key priority programme under MOM’s Programme-based Engagement (ProBE Plus) for 2013. MOM will be conducting a series of special workplace inspections across the whole of Singapore targeting safe use of Cranes and safe conduct of lifting operations for the period between 15 July and 30 September 2013.

The work activities and documentation checks that will be covered during the Operations include:

  • Safe use of Tower Cranes, Mobile Cranes, Crawler Cranes, Gantry Cranes and Lorry Loaders
  • Safe Lifting Operations
  • Risk Assessment
  • Safe Work Procedures for Lifting Operations
  • Permit to Work System for Lifting Operations
  • Lifting Plans
  • Functionality of Safety Devices of Cranes
  • Maintenance Regime of Cranes
  • Condition of Lifting Appliances and Lifting Gears
  • Appointment of certified Lifting Personnel – Lifting Supervisor, Rigger, Signalman and Crane Operator
  • OSHMS for Lifting Operations
