Advisory to employers - Eligibility for second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Issued on 1 July 2022

  1. The Ministry of Health and the Expert Committee on COVID-19 Vaccination strongly recommend that those aged 18 years and above who are medically vulnerable1 to severe COVID-19, should receive a second booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. These groups are at a higher risk of severe disease and a second booster is important to achieve a high level of protection.
  2. Please arrange for your eligible workers to receive their second booster dose. The second booster dose may be taken 5 months after the completion of the first booster dose.
  3. If your workers are between the age of 50 and 79 years old, they may also choose to take a second booster dose if they are concerned about their individual risk of severe COVID-19 as this is the age where risk increases as chronic diseases start to set in.
  4. You should book a vaccination appointment for your eligible workers who are staying in dormitories or are Work Permit holders in the construction, marine shipyard and process (CMP) sectors from the list of medical centres that offer the second booster dose.
  5. Please refer to MOM’s website for a full list of FAQs, including how to arrange appointments if you have other workers who need to complete their primary vaccination series. For other vaccination-related queries, you can contact MOM at (Select 'Foreign workforce management', then 'About COVID-19 vaccination for foreign workers').

FOOTNOTE

  1. Individuals with health conditions that make them medically vulnerable to severe COVID-19 can self-declare their health condition to be eligible for the second booster. Please refer to the list of medical conditions. Persons with medical conditions not listed in the link, or who are not sure if they are included in the listed groups should consult their doctor.
