Advisory - Employers in Essential Services companies must seek approval before moving foreign employees to alternative residences
Updated as of 17 April 2020
- On 17 April 2020, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) issued an advisory to employers whose companies were approved by MTI as an Essential Services company. If they have employees currently residing in a Purpose-Built Dormitories for foreign employees, they are required to reside at the dormitory and are not permitted to move to another residence without prior approval from the Ministry of Manpower.
- If employers in essential services companies wish to move their foreign employees to another residence, they may submit an application at https://go.gov.sg/appforapproval.
- Applications will only be processed if the company is an MTI-approved Essential Services company. Applications from companies that are not MTI-approved will not be processed. More information about Essential Services can be found at https://covid.gobusiness.gov.sg.
- If the application to move foreign employees to an alternate living arrangement is approved, the foreign employees may have to serve a 14-day Stay-Home Notice and undergo a swab test at the company’s expense.
