Advisory on Antigen Rapid Tests for migrant workers residing in dormitories

Issued on 27 August 2021

  1. The capability to test and detect COVID cases quickly remains critical to ringfence any potential infections from wider spread in the dormitories. Antigen Rapid Tests (ART) can be self-administered and provide quick results for more convenient, comfortable and quick testing.
  2. We will be introducing the use of ART in dormitories to enable quicker detection of potential COVID-19 infections. Here are some key information for your reference.
    • The ART will be done at the workers’ convenience in their rooms on the scheduled day.
    • The ART will be supervised by an appointed supervisor.
    • The ART test is mandatory, and your worker will have to submit the results on the FWMOMCare App. MOM will conduct regular checks to ensure that ART is done properly and on time.
    • You can find out more about details of the ART process, including FAQs. Please share this with your workers
  3. The key dates for the implementation of ART testing at the dorms are as follows:
    • Your workers residing in dormitories will see their ART schedules and receive notifications for their ART test dates on FWMOMCare from 9 Sep 2021.
    • Your workers will learn and start on the Antigen Rapid Test (ART) self-test, in addition to their regular Rostered Routine Testing (RRT) cycles, with effect from 13 Sep 2021.
  4. The ART kits to be used by the workers are currently fully subsidised by the government until further notice.
    • Your workers can collect their kits upon completing their RRT testing at their respective RRT sites, such as the in-dorm swab facilities or the Regional Screening Centres (RSCs), from 30 Aug 2021.
    • Your worker is required to bring his work permit card for the collection.
