In 2007, three workers died as a result of demolition-related work. With the increase in demolition-related activity, there is a need to focus efforts on improving the safety standards of demolition work.

Crane-Related Activities

In February 2008, three workers died when a tower crane collapsed in a worksite at the National University of Singapore. In March 2008, a crawler crane toppled onto a pedestrian walkway at West Coast Walk. Both accidents serve as strong reminders of the potential hazard posed during the operation of cranes.
