New Application
Application Criteria
- Applicant must be at least 21 years old.
- Applicant must have at least 12 months relevant working experience assisting in operational charge of a steam engine or steam boiler.
- Applicant without the Engineering Knowledge II (2nd Grade) certificate awarded by Singapore Polytechnic has to attend and pass the interview by the Board of Examiners before being awarded the Certificate of Competency.
Required Documents
- Copy of NRIC/Work Pass (both sides).
- Copy of Mechanical Engineering Degree Recognised by the Professional Engineers Board Singapore.
- Copy of Engineering Knowledge II (2nd Grade) certificate awarded by Singapore Polytechnic.
- Copy of existing equivalent Certificate of Competency (if any).
- Employer Testimonials stating 12 months relevant working experience assisting in operational charge of a steam engine or steam boiler.
- Copy of Boiler Attendant Certificate issued by MOM (optional).

Conversion Application
Application Criteria
- Applicant must be at least 21 years old.
- Applicant need to attend an interview by the Board of Examiners before being awarded the Certificate of Competency (if required).
- Applicant must have at least 12 months relevant working experience assisting in operational charge of a steam engine or steam boiler.
- Applicant who do not have a Degree or Diploma need to pass ALL the prescribed Second Grade modules conducted by Singapore Polytechnic within 5 consecutive years.
Required Documents
- Copy of NRIC/Work Pass (both sides).
- Copy of Degree or Diploma in Engineering (preferably in Mechanical).
- Second Grade Steam Engineer COC certificates (5 modules*) issued by Singapore Polytechnic.
- Employer Testimonials stating 12 months relevant working experience assisting in operational charge of a steam engine or steam boiler.
- Copy of Boiler Attendant Certificate issued by MOM (optional).
* Applicant is to submit only the required module certificate(s) if exempted from certain modules.
