New Application
Application Criteria
- Applicant must be at least 21 years old.
- Applicant must have at least 24 months relevant working experience assisting in operational charge of a steam engine or steam boiler.
- Applicant without the Engineering Knowledge II (1st Grade) certificate awarded by Singapore Polytechnic has to attend and pass the interview by the Board of Examiners before being awarded the Certificate of Competency.
Required Documents
- Copy of NRIC/Work Pass (both sides).
- Copy of Mechanical Engineering Degree Recognised by the Professional Engineers Board Singapore.
- Copy of Engineering Knowledge II (1st Grade) certificate awarded by Singapore Polytechnic.
- Employer Testimonials stating 24 months relevant working experience assisting in operational charge of a steam engine or steam boiler.
- Second Grade Steam Engineer Certificate issued by MOM (optional).

Conversion Application
Application Criteria
- Applicant must be at least 21 years old.
- Applicant must have at least 12 months relevant working experience assisting in operational charge of a steam engine or steam boiler after obtaining Second Grade certificate.
- Applicant who does not have a Degree or Diploma need to pass ALL the prescribed First Grade modules conducted by Singapore Polytechnic within 5 consecutive years.
Required Documents
- Copy of NRIC/Work Pass (both sides).
- Copy Degree or Diploma in Engineering (preferably in Mechanical).
- Copy First Grade Steam Engineer COC certificates (5 modules*) issued by Singapore Polytechnic.
- Employer Testimonials stating 12 months relevant working experience assisting in operational charge of a steam engine or steam boiler.
- Second Grade Steam Engineer Certificate (issued by MOM).
* Applicant is to submit only the required module certificate(s) if exempted from certain modules.

- Applicant can apply 12 months after obtaining Second Grade Certificate.

Processing Time
