Requirements for First Grade Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) Engineer

Application Criteria
- Applicant must be at least 21 years old.
- Applicant must have at least 12 months relevant experience in operational charge or as an assistant in operational charge of Internal Combustion Engine.
- Applicant has to attend and pass the interview by the Board of Examiners before being awarded the Certificate of Competency.
Required Documents
- Copy of NRIC/Work Pass (both sides).
- Copy of Mechanical Engineering Degree Recognised by the Professional Engineers Board Singapore.
- Copy of existing equivalent Certificate of Competency (if any).
- Employer Testimonials stating 12 months relevant working experience in operational charge or as an assistant in operational charge of Internal Combustion Engine.
- Second Grade ICE Engineer Certificate issued by MOM (optional).

Conversion Applications
Application Criteria
- Applicant must be at least 21 years old.
- Applicant must have at least 12 months relevant experience in operational charge or as an assistant in operational charge of Internal Combustion Engine after obtaining his 2nd Grade ICE Engineer certificate.
- Applicant can apply 12 months after obtaining his 2nd Grade ICE Engineer certificate.
- Applicant has to attend and pass the interview by the Board of Examiners before being awarded the Certificate of Competency (if required).
- Applicant who does not have a Degree or Diploma need to pass ALL the prescribed First Grade modules within 5 consecutive years (3 modules by Singapore Polytechnic and 2 modules by Ministry of Manpower).
Required Documents
- Copy of NRIC/Work Pass (both sides).
- Copy of existing equivalent Certificate of Competency (COC) #.
- Copy Degree or Diploma in Engineering (preferably in Mechanical).
- Copy of First Grade ICE Engineer COC certificates (5 modules)*.
- Employer Testimonials stating 12 months relevant working experience in operational charge or as an assistant in operational charge of ICE ^.
- Second Grade ICE Engineer Certificate (issued by MOM)
* 3 module certificates are issued by Singapore Polytechnic and 2 module certificates are issued by Ministry of Manpower.
^ Employer Testimonial is not required if copy of existing equivalent Certificate of Competency (COC)# is submitted.
# List of Equivalent Certificates of Competency (COC) acceptable for conversion by MOM
- COC issued by Department of Trade, UK.
- COC issued by Machinery Department, Malaysia.
- COC as First Class Engineer (Motorship), issued by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA)
Important Points
- Fees paid are NOT refundable (regardless of the outcome of the application).
- All details must be entered in BLOCK letters.
- All documents must be submitted in Portable Document Format (PDF) only.
- Application with incomplete information and insufficient supporting documents will be rejected.

Processing Time
Application will be processed within 8 weeks, upon receipt of payment and supporting documents.
