The Singapore economy rebounded strongly in 2010, registering double-digit growth of 14.5%, a sharp reversal from the 0.8% decline in 2009. Driven by the exceptional economic performance, employment rose by 3.9%. Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Germany and the United Kingdom also registered growth in both GDP and employment, though at a slower pace than Singapore. In contrast, employment contracted in Japan and the United States even as their economy grew.
