Risk management is an important measure to improve workplace safety and health by identifying, evaluating and controlling risks at workplaces. While the concept of risk management has been around and is an element under the Safety and Health Management System, it received greater prominence and was mandated under the new OSH framework to foster a proactive accident prevention culture.

The Workplace Safety and Health (Risk Management) Regulations take effect on 1 September 2006. It states that employers, self-employed persons and principals (including contractors and sub-contractors) are responsible in identifying safety and health hazards at workplaces and taking appropriate actions to eliminate or reduce the risks associated with the hazards. See the following for more information on the Regulations:
