If a Dependant's Pass (DP) holder wishes to work in Singapore, the employer is required to apply for a Letter of Consent (LOC).
The DP holder can only begin working after the employer has received the LOC.
The LOC ceases to be valid:
- When the DP is cancelled; or
- The pass holder is no longer employed by the company.
LOC applications can be made:
There is no administration fee charged for Letter of Consent applications submitted.
Mode of submission | Acknowledgement | Processing time |
| Instant | · 80% of applications are processed within seven days
· The applicant may check application status via EP Online (No login password required) |
The LOC must be renewed when the DP is being renewed. The LOC renewal form will be sent to the employing company about two months before the pass expires. The completed form should be submitted to the Work Pass Division at least four weeks before the LOC expires. Alternatively, you may renew the LOC via EP Online.
To cancel the LOC, the employer is required to inform the Work Pass Division in writing.
In order for dependants of S Pass holders to work in Singapore, they should apply for a Work Permit (WP), S Pass or an Employment Pass. Each application would be assessed based on its own merits.
Employment/S Pass
DP holders who are successful in their Employment/S Pass applications are required to cancel the DP.
Work Permit
For DP holders who are successful in their Work Permit (WP) applications, the WP's validity period will be tied to that of the S Pass holder's pass.
